NEWSLETTER

NOVEMBER 2009

This has been a long time in coming but we are excited to share our first newsletter with all our loyal customers.  The goal is to help our customers properly maintain their vehicles and stay safe.  Maintenance is the key to any healthy system.

Mice--When mice build nests in a car, not only does it create a horrible smell, but it leads to electrical problems in vehicles because they chew on the wiring system.  One solution is to place moth balls at varied locations of the vehicle, in the frame, under the cowling system and near the blower motor.

Cooling systems--Coolant needs to be changed every 2 years.  Not changing your coolant can cause acid build up, which will wear on your head gaskets and radiator heater core and could cause them to start leaking prematurely.

Windshield wiper fluid--If your fluid is not protected to the correct temp, it could freeze and then hoses will crack, and cause spray nozzles to ice up

Wipers--Make sure can lift the wipers on your windshield when snow is in the forecast.  That way you can clear off the windshield easily by hand and not overtax the wipers or the wiper motor.

Defrosting--Be sure to check front and rear defrosters to make sure they are working properly before the cold weather sets in.

Exhaust System--Make sure you have no exhaust leaks.  An exhaust leak will cause Carbon monoxide to permeate the car and cause headaches or fatigue.

Tires--Check the date on your tires.  If they are 5 years or older-no matter the tread depth- they are unsafe for the road.

Lights--It is always important to have your lights functioning properly at all times, so check them regularly.  Not only could you be stopped by the police, but it is a safety issue.

ABS light--If your ABS light is on, have it checked out immediately.  If it is not working, stopping on a wet or snowy road could be hazardous-greatly increasing the stopping distance.
